I was planning to paint the bow pulpit mount black, but after some initial cleaning and polishing, I'm seriously considering a nicely polished aluminum finish. The spinnaker hooks will be slapping around when not in use, and I think they might grind up the enamel quickly. They won't do much harm to bare aluminum though.
I've been using a sanding block with 100 grit paper to polish the rough aluminum, and although it's time consuming it is coming out quite amazing. I'm not using the Dremel because I don't want to make any fluctuations in the surface. I will use it later when I get the surface leveled though.
I'll post a picture when I get farther along, but I'm a bit excited by how this is coming out and may just skip the paint on this piece...
