I made it through another four layers today, this time on the starboard deck. Both decks now have four layers of 10 oz. cloth, and in both cases it's short of the thickness I'd hoped.
My next steps will be to remove the amine blush, clean up the edges a little with the grinder, and then see how many more layers I'll need to bring it to a level that's ready for fairing compound. I'm guessing another two ought to do it. Hopefully not much more than that or I'll need to order more cloth. It seems that all I can get locally is the thinner 6 oz cloth, and that just means more layers.
I need to get this deck done so I can move on to the hull work... The summer clock is ticking...
