I smoothed out the edges of the four layers I put down yesterday, and the grinding left me with enough fiberglass stuck in my arms to build a second boat. I should have worn a long-sleeve shirt, but it was 87 humid degrees out there and just too hot for that plan to feel reasonable. So now I suffer for my carelessness.
I installed one more layer today as the first four were definitely not enough. I'm not certain that this will do it, but it was all I had time for, so either way it's one layer closer to the finish line. I'm going to try to pick up some fairing compound on a lunch break next week and check the height of the laminate early in the week. If it's still too low I'd like to try to have it completely finished before the weekend. Ideally I'd like to have the fairing mostly finished next weekend.
Progress... One millimeter at a time...
